🌿 Plant Care Guide

Welcome to the Plant Parent Club! Whether you’re just getting started or adding to your growing collection, we’re here to help your plants thrive. Below are general care tips for most of the plants we ship. For specific guidance, check the care sheet included with your order or visit individual product pages.

💡 Light Needs

Bright, Indirect Light (Most Common)
Most tropical houseplants prefer bright, indirect light—near a window but out of direct sun. Too much sun can scorch leaves; too little light can cause slow growth or leggy stems.

Low Light Tolerant
Some plants (like certain ferns, snake plants, or pothos) can adapt to lower light but still benefit from occasional brighter exposure.

Direct Sun Lovers
Outdoor plants or sun-hardy varieties like succulents and cacti do best with direct sunlight for several hours a day.

💧 Watering Basics

  • Let soil dry slightly between waterings. Use your finger to check the top 1–2 inches of soil—if it feels dry, it’s time to water.

  • Avoid overwatering. It’s one of the most common issues. Roots need air as much as water!

  • Use room-temperature water. Cold water can shock tropical plants.

  • Check drainage. Always pot your plant in a container with drainage holes to prevent root rot.

🌡️ Temperature & Humidity

  • Ideal temperature range: 65–85°F (18–29°C)

  • Avoid drafts and sudden temp changes. Keep away from A/C vents, radiators, or drafty windows.

  • Humidity: Many plants prefer moderate to high humidity. Boost humidity by:

    • Grouping plants together

    • Using a humidifier

    • Placing plants on a pebble tray with water (not touching the base)

🪴 Repotting Tips

  • You don’t need to repot immediately. Your plant arrives in healthy soil.

  • Repot when:

    • Roots are growing out of the bottom

    • Soil dries out too quickly

    • Growth seems stunted

  • Use a pot with drainage and fresh soil that suits the plant’s type (tropical, cactus, etc.).

✂️ Pruning & Maintenance

  • Remove yellow or damaged leaves with clean scissors.

  • Pinch or prune leggy growth to encourage bushier shape.

  • Wipe leaves gently to remove dust and allow better light absorption.

🐛 Pests & Problems

Common issues include:

  • Yellow leaves: Overwatering or poor drainage

  • Brown edges: Low humidity or underwatering

  • Spots or sticky residue: Could be pests like spider mites, aphids, or mealybugs—treat early with neem oil or insecticidal soap.

Inspect new plants regularly and isolate if you suspect pests.
